Fire Pink Wildflower (Silene Virginica)

CIMG5430a

Very impressive flower I met yesterday in the woods. Made me look up the name and the story behind. Fire Pink is known also as Catchfly. Insects can get caught in the white sticky fibers of its stem. Fire Pink does not eat the catch. Playful red plant, isn’t it.
